Open 12306 for that pair

A China train-versus-flight choice depends on the pair, not on a proverb.

Eastern city pairs are often a half day or less by high-speed train, and the station is usually closer than the airport. That sentence is a tendency. Your pair might be the exception.

If the duration on 12306 is an evening and a morning, the flight is allowed to win. The comparison page says so. It does not quote a fare, because the fare you saw yesterday is not a fact about trains.
